The Jona story and the Good Samaritan story: which of these Scripture characters am I?

We are all familiar  with both stories in today Scriptures: Jonah (Jonah 1: 1-12, 2: 11) and the Good Samaritan (Lk 0: 25-37). Jonah is running away from God and the priest and Levite refusing to help a badly wounded victim of a robbery and is left to die on the road. A Samaritan, one hated by the Jews, stops to help, willing to get his hands dirty, so to speak.  There's a Jonah, a Levite, a priest, and a good Samaritan in all of us. Whenever we try to avoid what God is asking of us--that is, we choose the lesser good or act against virtue--God lets us be swallowed up by "a whale", as was Jonah.  We then live in the darkness of our selfishness or sinfulness or poor decisions. The "waters" around us or within us become turbulent until we right the wrong, mend our ways and do the good from which we walked away.  The Good Samaritan story is relived in our own lives as well. How often are not the very people we look down upon, perceive as inferior, or even as evil, not as worthy as ourselves, perhaps even hated by us, are the very ones God uses to show us His way, His truth, and His life.
