In today’s first reading, Colossians 2: 6-15, St. Paul
reminds us that in Christ “dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily,” and
that you and I share in this fullness. Through
baptism, we “are rooted in him and built
upon him and established in the faith.” “See to it,” Paul says to us, “that no one
captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy” according to human
tradition, “according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to
Christ.” By being “rooted in Him” we are rooted in the richest of soils, soil that leads to sharing “in this fullness
in him, who is the head of every principality and power.”
I am rooted in the ultimate Source of goodness. Therefore, I am capable
of all that is good! And so are you! I
believe it! Do you?
